How to Create a Backup Copy of MainStage and Use it

It's pretty quick to create a backup copy of MainStage to have just in case you need it. 

 

Before you update MainStage, we recommend creating a backup of your MainStage app in its current version so you can always go back if you should need to. 

 

Here's how:

  1. Open Finder
  2. Navigate to your Applications folder and locate MainStage. Screen_Shot_2020-11-19_at_11.12.43_AM.png
  3. Rename the MainStage app to include reference to the version number or simply "Backup".Screen_Shot_2020-11-19_at_12.08.11_PM.png
  4. Right click on the app and choose "Compress..." Screen_Shot_2020-11-19_at_12.08.42_PM.pngScreen_Shot_2020-11-19_at_12.10.56_PM.png

Once this is completed you have successfully created a backup copy of MainStage. You can now safely download a newer version of MainStage and will be able to use this backup in the future if needed.

Follow these steps in order to restore your backed up version of MainStage:

  1. Open Finder.
  2. Navigate to your Applications folder, and locate the compressed file you created in the above steps.   Screen_Shot_2020-11-19_at_12.10.56_PM.png
  3. Double click the .zip file to unzip. Once this is complete...  Screen_Shot_2020-11-19_at_1.46.46_PM.png
  4. Open the unzipped version of MainStage by double clicking it.   Screen_Shot_2020-11-19_at_1.47.34_PM.png
